Sea Goddess

Born from a timeless marble stone found on the seabed of Tinos, Greece, the goddess Thalassa emerges from contours shaped by thousands of years under water. As I carved, I felt I was not imposing form but uncovering what was already there — imagining the sea goddess within the marble and removing only what concealed her. It became a dialogue, a two-way interaction where the stone guided me as much as I guided it. Over two weeks on the island, in creating my first work in marble, I confronted my limits and discovered new strength. Out of that encounter came not just a sculpture but a reflection of self — an affirmation of Picasso’s belief that the purpose of life is to discover your talent and give it away.
